We want an Active Schools Flag for St. Helen's!

6th Nov 2018

This year in St. Helen’s we are hoping to attain an Active Flag for the school. We do lots of active things already; and are looking to improve on this, with innovative and easy ways to develop PE in our school.

Active School Flag (ASF) is a Department of Education and Skills initiative supported by Healthy Ireland.

The Active School Flag process seeks to recognise schools that strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community.

Although St. Helen's is known to be a school which encourages lots of sport and activity, for the ASF process we must identify all ways in which we could improve our levels of physical activity in school and get as many people as possible involved.

We therefore have an ASF committee, including staff members and fantastic pupil representatives from all of our classes. We meet and brainstorm regularly to set up events and initiatives to encourage activity in our school.

We, at St. Helen's, are thoroughly looking forward to the ASF process. We hope that in May we will have the beautiful blue Active Schools Flag flying over St. Helen's!
